The albion
New paint job, new brewery & pump clips, but otherwise the same familiar pub.
The Albion is a small cosy pub, opposite the bottom of Station Hill, thus the closest pub to Winchester rail station. The street-corner location at a busy junction gives it an unusual shape, and makes it an ideal place to watch the world go by. No meals, but bar snacks such as pork pies, rolls and Scotch eggs often available.

The Albion - Testimonials
“Hop Back brewery took on this pub a few months ago, and it’s a lovely place to showcase their very excellent beers. The feel of a local – cosy and friendly. Just a stones throw from the railway station. The perfect place for a perfect pint. Highly recommended to all you beer officionados who have yet to try the delights of Hop Back ales at their best.” – Peter Barratt (Google)
Newly reopened as a Hop Back brewery tied house. Superbly kept beer in a plain and simple street-corner pub. Handy for Winchester Station and multiple bus routes within a few yards.
“This pub has recently (Nov 2024) reopened as a pub within the Hop Back Brewery estate, as I expected it’s a great pub. An excellent selection of Hop Back’s cask ales, friendly bar staff, comfy seats and no annoying TVs. Definitely a place to enjoy a pint if you’re in Winchester.
It’s right next to the railway station and only a short walk away from the city centre.” – Steve Hyson (Google)
